Introduction to illustration
Tilmeld
The goal of this evening class is to introduce you to the
wonderful and wide world of illustration, for industries such as publishing, television,
or film. What these fields all have in common, is a working knowledge of the
basics of design and understanding how to convey a narrative through your art.
In this course you will learn how to take an illustration from concept to
final. You will learn of the importance of value and later how to use colour to
elevate your illustrations. Participants will learn how to use design and
storytelling to create dynamic compositions. We will introduce using
perspective as a tool for creating environments and learn the basics of
character design and how to compile a varied reference board for your projects
and how to find your artistic process.
Please bring your preferred medium (colour pencils, gouache, watercolour
or acrylic), a bottle of black ink, three small containers for mixing ink and
water and a brush. You will also need an A3 or A4
sized sketchbook, appropriate for your media. This course will be a mix of
drawing in class and disseminating information.
