Croquis - anatomy fundamentals

Join us for a
croquis course exploring the fundamentals of drawing. We will use anatomy as
our main vessel for exploring how energy manifests itself.
Sounds strange? Good. Let me explain: The human body is one of the clearest
places to see energy organize itself into gesture, rhythm and form but the same
forces show up everywhere, in a tree's branching, an animal's movement, or
organic growing structures. We use human anatomy because it gives us rich
material to work with.
Through the course we'll move between anatomical references and life model
sessions designed to explore these concepts.
Repetition is key. Only through repetition can one find the way out of the head
and into the hand, the point where you stop thinking and start seeing.
This class welcomes all levels. Whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time or have years of practice, the emphasis on anatomy and repetition will sharpen your eye and loosen your hand.
Model fee is included in the price.
Please bring:
Soft graphite pencils (6B or softer) or charcoal pencils (Conté à Paris Pierre
Noire B and 2B recommended)
A paper stump Kneaded eraser
Eraser pencil (3mm) on and reflection. Explore how we perceive the human form
through lines and allow yourself to dive deep into the art of capturing not
only the body on paper but also the soul within.
We have boards and printer paper
available, but you are of course welcome to bring your own paper.
