Post-figurative drawing from imagination

B/W sketch with many people

This workshop is designed to introduce you to drawing without any reference relying on your intuition and memory, loosen up your line work and develop a better understanding of how matter interacts with the figure. You will learn how to assemble figures from imagination and intuition based on your visual experiences. We will spend a lot of time on the spontaneous figure assembly and creating an interior to match the figure. Color will be actively used to give volume and expressive vector to the environment.

I talk and comment a lot during the session and encourage you to have questions and participate actively. We will work with foreshortening, perspective and different visual angles, color and negative space. I will share my thoughts on stylizng the perspective and distortion that underlines the realistic appearance of a figure.

Independent of your background, the workshop will help you to develop additional mark-making features to your already established figurative work.

Materials: willow (vine) charcoal, A2/A3 format sketching paper(120-160 g/m2, preferrably toned brow, grey or ivory) hard eraser, blue soft pastel.

Note: discounted prices for students, unemployed, retired are only available for residents of Copenhagen municipality proper.
