Painting the figure in oils

In this 4-days workshop, we will paint the nude figure with oils. The first day will be spent on drawing, and the next three days will be spent painting.
At the drawing stage we will discuss things like proportion, gesture and the overall process.
The next three days we will discuss how to mix and apply the paint, and how to think about planes, value and temperature.
We will
work in the “window-shading” technique, where the figure is painted piece by piece,
in one layer, and the teaching will be a combination of demonstrations and 1:1
feedback.
You will need to bring:
- An HB pencil
- Eraser
- Oil paints of various colours (water mixable oils are preferred)
- Flat and round synthetics brushes of different sizes
- Palette knife
- Gessoed board to paint on, A3 size or similar
(Give the
board 2-3 coats of gesso, with a light sanding in between the coats).
There will be a short break during the day during which you can eat your own
food, but there will be no actual lunch break.
Please note that discount as student, unemployed or retired, is
available exclusively for residents of Copenhagen municipality proper, and that
we are required to obtain documentation for your status.
